It seems there is no escape from the news of the reunion of Manchester indie band Oasis. It is all over social media. Whatever you think about the Gallagher brothers, they certainly know how to make media headlines, D’You Know What I Mean?

Whilst many will be scrambling for gig tickets which promise to sell out in Supersonic time, I will be putting the finishing touches to Alopecia UK’s September campaign. I hope all the hype about Oasis tickets will Cast No Shadow on the kickstart to Alopecia Awareness Month 2024.

Part of The Masterplan for our September campaign is lots of content across Alopecia UK’s social media channels. Sadly, our posts on social media can sometimes Fade Away into the ether, thanks to the pesky algorithms of the platforms. Being the small charity we are, we don’t have big budgets for advertising and marketing fees on social media. ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’, Some Might Say.

You’re right, we Acquiesce that we’d be Going Nowhere if all we did was whinge and moan about social media algorithms and how they work against small charities who want to use social media platforms to raise awareness but not spend charitable funds on advertising.

But there is a way that you can help turn out Instagram wall into a Wonderwall this September. All you need to do is interact with our social media content during the month, whether that be on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X and LinkedIn. Give our content a ‘like’, or a ‘share’, or add a comment. By doing one of these quick and simple actions, you can help ensure that our awareness messages won’t Slide Away..

With your help, our Alopecia Awareness Month posts could even travel All Around The World and possibly end up Half the World Away.

We know that our awareness content on social media won’t Live Forever. But with a quick click on your phone, tablet or laptop, you can help our content live long enough to beat the algorithms and reach everyone, from Little James to Lyla.

At the end of September, I hope that I Don’t Look Back in Anger or ask Where Did It All Go Wrong? if I see some of our posts have failed to reach a big audience. Instead, I hope I revel in how the alopecia community was able to Stand By Me and do their bit to support alopecia awareness.

We are @alopeciauk on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X and LinkedIn

If you would like to get involved in September, beyond interacting with and sharing our social media content, you can find our more here.
If you’re an Oasis fan, and are impressed by my ability to work in so many Oasis song titles into this one short blog post, please feel free to express your appreciation with a donation to Alopecia UK’s 2024 Alopecia Awareness Month appeal here.

(Good luck to anyone trying to get gig tickets this weekend!)
