Children's Support Group Leaders

When:  Various.  Depends on individual groups own dates. Typically at least two dates a year for children's groups.

Desired skills: Experience of working with children and young people, friendly & welcoming personality, good organisation and communication skills, able to use an Outlook email inbox.
How to apply:  Contact us at [email protected] and let us know a bit about yourself along with the group you would be interested in leading.
NB:  If successful you will need to complete an AUK Disclosure Check.

Children's Support Group Volunteers
Application Deadline: Ongoing

Where: Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham and London
When:  Various.  Depends on individual groups own dates
Who: Males and females.  It is nice if we can get some volunteers at meetings who have alopecia and are comfortable with their alopecia, i.e. having it on show.  This provides great role modelling for the children, helping to normalise alopecia, which helps the children with their own confidence and self-esteem.  However, even if you don't currently have alopecia but you have strong skills working with children and young people then we'd be interested to hear from you!
Type of help needed:  To be an extra pair of hands at meetings, helping to set up and clear away, welcoming people, facilitating games with children and parents, chatting to children and parents etc.
Desired skills: Experience of working with children and young people, friendly & welcoming personality.
How to apply:  Contact us at [email protected] and let us know a bit about yourself along with the group you would be interested in helping out with.
NB:  If successful you will need to complete an AUK Disclosure Check.

Office Volunteers
Application Deadline: Ongoing

Location:  Shipley, West Yorkshire

We are looking for volunteers that we could call upon (adhoc) to come in to the Alopecia UK Head Office and help us with various admin tasks.  The tasks would mostly be very basic but would require the volunteer to be someone who is organised and works in an organised manner.  Whether you have a few hours a week or a few hours a month we'd be interested in hearing from you.

How to apply:
Contact us at [email protected] with a copy of your CV and an introductory email about yourself and why you would be interested in this role.

Alopecia UK Representatives/Spokespeople
Application Deadline:  Ongoing

We are occasionally invited to attend fundraising events to say a few words about the charity’s work, perhaps accept a fundraising cheque on the day/night and take part in a photo opportunity. We cannot always find someone in the local area to attend on the charity’s behalf.

We are looking for volunteers across the UK who might be able to help out. You will need to be comfortable with speaking about the charity and be happy to take part in photo opportunities. We will be happy to provide a ‘pointer sheet’ about Alopecia UK to enable you to speak confidently about the work of Alopecia UK. Most opportunities are simply looking for someone to represent the charity and speak for no more than a couple of minutes.

We would contact you should an opportunity come up in your area and check your availability.

If you are someone who would be happy to represent Alopecia UK at fundraising events, please complete this survey.

If the above posts are not suitable for you but you would still like to volunteer for Alopecia UK then please do still get in touch by emailing [email protected] and your name will be added to the volunteer distribution list so that any future updates and opportunities may be sent to you.  We are also happy to listen to ideas that people have and try our best to take them forward if they would be of benefit to the Charity and those with alopecia however please understand that we have a very small staff resource and can't always support or take all ideas forward.  Thank you.
