Thank you for applying to be an Event Support Volunteer with Alopecia UK. Volunteers are a very important and valued part of the charity.

This short volunteer agreement tells you what you can expect from us, and what we hope we can expect from our volunteers, should you represent the charity at any events.

Due to the popularity of some of our event volunteer roles, please note that we may not be able to guarantee you a space. If you are not successful as one of our event volunteers this time, please do not be discouraged from applying again in the future.

What you can expect from us

  • Resources and Support - this includes our volunteer handbook where you’ll find information on how we reimburse expenses, our safer recruitment procedures and this document is a good ‘go-to’ guide for volunteers
  • Pre-event Induction - we will talk through your role at the event, health and safety and safeguarding (this is just an example)
  • Opportunities to problem-solve, share feedback and your ideas for the future

What we expect from our volunteers

  • Health and Safety - please ensure you are aware of the fire evacuation procedures of the venue, you are always looking after your own safety and working in a way that promotes the safety of others. Speak to a member of the AUK team if you have any questions regarding health and safety.
  • Safeguarding - please ensure you are familiar with our Safeguarding Policy (here).  We will also talk about this during your induction, and you can find a simple summary in the Volunteer Handbook. If you identify a safeguarding concern, please speak to a member of the AUK team immediately.
  • Code of Conduct- If Alopecia UK finds that you have been behaving in a way that reflects badly on the Charity and/or damages its reputation in any way, we reserve the right to disassociate ourselves from you and end the volunteering relationship. You must also declare any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Confidentiality - You are required to maintain the confidentiality of our beneficiaries and follow GDPR requirements unless it is believed a person is at risk of harming themselves or others. This means that confidential information about the people we support, volunteers, employees and our work is kept private unless sharing this information is required by law.
