This bulk purchase option is aimed at schools, dermatology clinics or other organisations who may wish to have a larger number of copies. Please take a look at our further shop listings for different quantities. You can purchase the booklets individually for £1.80, or one of each of the four 'First Day' range for £4.00.
'Ben's First Day' is a short rhyming story produced by those with alopecia for others with alopecia. The story has been written by Amy Johnson and Kate Harrison, illustrated by Mandy Eaton-MacLean and designed by Robert Newman of Toasted (www.toasted.biz). All of these individuals have alopecia themselves and have not received any payment for producing the booklet. It is their gift to Alopecia UK and the wider alopecia community. :-)
The story describes Ben's first day at school. Ben has alopecia and is a bit nervous about how his fellow classmates will react to his difference in appearance. Ben has total hair loss.
The story is told through a short 8 verse rhyme which we hope will appeal to all ages (but primarily the book is aimed at a young audience, aged 3 - 7). We believe it will appeal to all ages due to the eye-catching illustrations.
The A5 booklet is paperback with a glossy cover.
As well as providing the booklets free of charge at events and children's support groups, Alopecia UK is pleased to offer them for sale in our online store. We have applied modest selling prices to help to cover our P&P and admin time. The printing cost of the booklets is kindly supported by the British Association of Dermatologists, allowing us to keep the costs as low as possible.
If you would like to pay a little more of your story booklet, you are able to add an additional donation at the checkout should you so wish! :-)
We hope our story booklets will give confidence to children (big and small) with alopecia and also raise a smile too :-)
All prices include 2nd class postage to a UK address.
IMPORTANT, if ordering from outside the UK, please use the 'BULK BOOKLET - INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE' option priced at £15.00. Unfortunately, it is expensive for the charity to send a large order of booklets overseas.
