Being the small charity we are, we don't organise our own challenge events. However, we are very lucky to have wonderful people in our community secure their own places in external challenge events and use these to raise much-needed funds and awareness for Alopecia UK. If you would be willing to register for an external challenge event to support Alopecia UK, in return we will offer support with setting up a fundraising page and can offer an Alopecia UK t-shirt or running vest. You can find details of running events near you here, but this page focuses on non-running challenge events.

Walking

Perhaps you prefer the gentler pace of a walk? Nothing beats a walk in the countryside, especially in the Summer months. There are lots of organised walking events. The Ramblers website is a good place to find local walking routes in your area. Or Forestry England sites have marked walks for the public to follow and indicate the distance to be covered. You could do a sponsored walk at your favourite park, forest or coastal path.

A very popular walking event is Kiltwalk, Scotland's largest mass participation walking event.

Cycling

Cycling is a fantastic way to get fit and keep healthy. UK Cycling Events host cycling events across the country. Or check out British Cycling for local cycle routes.

Obstacle events

Obstacle course events like Tough Mudder, Wolf Run and Total Warrior are held across the UK, and involve racing through challenging terrain (mostly mud!) to complete various obstacles. For those who would prefer to exchange mud for a splash of colour, the Color Obstacle Rush might be more your thing. There are also some inflatable obstacle events across the UK.

Adrenaline events

Perhaps you're a thrill-seeker? Maybe a bungee jump or a skydive is something you've set your sights on. If so, please consider taking the plunge for Alopecia UK.

Alopecia UK would LOVE you to consider taking part in a challenge event to raise vital funds and awareness. We are incredibly grateful when fundraisers can cover the cost of entry into events themselves (and note that individual entry prices are sometimes cheaper than charity rates). If you are unable to cover the cost of entry yourself, but would love to fundraise for us, please email us at [email protected] and we will see what we can do to support.

It is only through the support of incredible individuals who fundraise or donate to Alopecia UK that we can continue the work we do. Thank you for your support.
