Get Involved Fundraise Be a Charity Champion this September - Go the Distance for AUK! Have you got what it takes to ‘Go the Distance’ for Alopecia UK this September? Please sign up to be a Charity Champion this Alopecia Awareness Month and challenge yourself with a distance event. Any distance, your way! Perhaps you could walk 10km? Or maybe you could run a marathon. Perhaps you could climb a mountain, or swim 50 laps of your local pool. Maybe you’d consider skydiving 10,000ft, cycling 100km, or roller-skating 10km. You might want to do something on just one day in September, perhaps join a parkrun like the AUK team are doing on 28th September. Or spread a challenge out over the whole month – anyone up for ‘5k a day for AUK’ (as a handful of people did in May)? Or taking the 'Go The Distance' theme in a different direction, perhaps your distance is one big step! In previous years, we have had Charity Champions use September as an opportunity to be public about their alopecia for the first time ever, or even go without their wig for a day, week or month. There is no bigger step than this, and it would very much fit into our challenge. Whether you can go the distance of a marathon or a mile, or perhaps a giant step, you will make such a difference to Alopecia UK and the work we do to improve the lives of those affected by alopecia. Make 2024 the year you get involved! Each September we try to rally as many people as possible to become Charity Champions and get involved with raising awareness and funds for Alopecia UK. Is this the year that you can help us? Being the small charity we are, we don’t have our own big fundraising events (we wish we could but logistically these take a lot of time, money and resources, that we do not have). Instead, we rely on our wonderful supporters doing their own thing or joining existing challenge events. When to comes down to how you ‘go the distance’ for Alopecia UK this September, pretty much anything is possible! Or you could totally do your own thing! Perhaps you could walk a long stretch of your local canal. Or climb a peak or take a wander along on a coastal path. How to get involved When you sign up to be a Charity Champion, we will send you a copy of our Charity Champion pack via email. It includes ideas of how to raise awareness and funds this September, as well as links to resources to help you, including how to set up a fundraising page. We will also send an Alopecia UK t-shirt to wear with pride this September. Charity t-shirts are posted out when fundraising pages have been set up, or you have emailed to let us know about your offline fundraising plans. Whatever distance you cover, however much you raise, you will make a real difference to a small charity that provides huge support when we are needed. Please ‘Go the Distance’ for Alopecia UK this September and sign up now to be a part of our team of Charity Champions! (Our Charity Champion pack also includes awareness and fundraising ideas for those who do not wish to do a distance-type event this September) Sign up to be a 2024 Charity Champion here Under 18?
