Alopecia UK is a small charity with a mission to provide support, community, and education to improve the lives of those affected by alopecia. From supporting research, hosting social events and support groups to simply giving advice to those unsure, Alopecia UK truly is a charity that has a profound impact on individuals and families alike. It creates a safe and understanding environment where people can share their experiences, build confidence, and realise they are not alone in their journey. Through awareness campaigns and educational resources, the charity also works to challenge misconceptions and promote greater understanding of alopecia across society, ensuring that those affected feel seen, supported, and empowered every day.

When I was 10, I found myself go from having a full head of hair to being totally bald in the space of two days. As you can imagine, that wasn't exactly a fun experience. I had no clue what was happening to me and that uncertainty was absolutely terrifying. But through the help of my family, friends and alopecia UK I pushed through and gained immense amounts of confidence that I never thought I would ever have. With this support I have been able to do things that my previous self would have never been able to dream about and I am so thankful for everyone who has helped me accept myself for who I am.

So naturally, after a lot of persuasion from various people, me and three of my friends (Thomas, Lucas and Chris) are going to hike the West Highland way as a fundraiser for Alopecia UK. The route is approximately 98 miles and starts in Milngavie before moving past loch Lomond and on to Fort William. Despite the mozzies, we should hopefully all make it back in one piece.

Thank you so much for any donations, I can't tell you how much we appreciate it! Unverified User
