Mandy's Park Run fundraising page for Alopecia UK Donate September is Alopecia awareness month. For those of you that know me, you will know that the Alopecia UK charity is very important to me. I developed alopecia in 2015 and decided to take control in 2016 by shaving my head as this was the only way I could control my hairloss. Just imagine looking in the mirror at yourself only to see a stranger looking back at you. I can tell you that it has been difficult to get used to seeing me looking so different. It has taken me a very long time to 'accept' that I have lost my hair and it is never going to grow back. Don't get me wrong, I still have down days and just wish my hair would come back, but I just have to accept it and just be me and get on with my life. Alopecia UK is a small charity working to improve the lives of those affected by alopecia. The charity does not get any goverment funding so therefore relies on the support of fundraisers and donors to continue the fantastic work it does. Alopecia UK have been there for me throughout my journey and I wouldn't have got through it without them! I have met some wonderful people along the way and have so many friends within the alopecia community. I have decided to attend a Parkrun on 28th September to help raise awareness for Alopecia and hopefully raise some needed funds too. (This is so far out of my comfort zone!) I will do my best although I will probably walk most of it! It would be great if my family and friends could donate a little bit toward my target to help me complete my goal.Thank you for supporting me with my fundraising efforts. I really appreciate your support and so does Alopecia UK! Mandy Nicolson
