Hannah’s 100k in September for Alopecia UK Donate This September, I am running 100k to raise money for Alopecia UK. I have suffered with alopecia areata for around 7 years, however, in the last year and a half, it has had a major impact on my life. In March 2023, my alopecia appeared again after a long time. Alopecia has really affected my mental health, particularly this year, leaving the house was becoming hard for me to do at times, feeling fed up constantly made going to work, going to the gym or going out at all, feel like a chore. It has been quite a journey, and with the help and support of my family and friends, I finally decided enough was enough and on the 17th of July I braved the shave. Alopecia is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks its own hair follicles, causing hair loss, there currently is no cure. There are treatments available to help stimulate hair growth, however each person responds differently to different treatments and there is no way of knowing what, if anything, is going to work for someone. Alopecia UK is a small charity working to improve the lives of those affected by alopecia. The charity has aims around Support, Awareness and Research. I hope that in doing this fundraising I can help, even a tiny bit, to make the world a more understanding and accepting place for those living with alopecia.Thank you on behalf of myself & Alopecia UK for any donations! Big shoutout to those who have offered to run beside me, couldn’t do it without yous! Hannah. Hannah Duddy
