We know that connecting with others who truly understand alopecia can make a huge difference. Sharing experiences, challenges, and successes with people who have faced similar situations can help reduce feelings of isolation, build confidence, and provide valuable peer support.

This online support group has been created specifically for men living with any type of alopecia. This is a welcoming space to connect with others who understand the unique impact alopecia can have on daily life.

Who is this meeting suitable for?

This meeting is for men aged 18 and over who are living with any type of alopecia.

The meeting is open to UK residents only.

What can you expect of this meeting?

Meetings take place online via Zoom, providing an opportunity to meet others, share experiences, discuss the challenges of living with alopecia, and learn from one another in a relaxed and supportive environment.

At the beginning of each session, attendees will be welcomed by the host and given a brief introduction to the group, along with some basic housekeeping.

From there, the conversation is led by the group. You are welcome to share your own experiences, ask questions, listen to others, offer support, or simply attend and observe if that feels more comfortable. There is no pressure to speak, and everyone is encouraged to participate in whatever way feels right for them.

We understand that joining a support group for the first time can feel daunting. Many attendees tell us they were nervous before their first session but were glad they took part. You'll be joining a group of people who understand the realities of living with alopecia and who are there to support one another.

Who will host the meeting?

The meeting will be hosted by one of our volunteers, JR, who has lived experience of alopecia.

Meet JR

Hey, I’m JR (Jay-R), and I’ve been living with Alopecia Areata for the last three years. When I was first diagnosed, I turned to social media, hoping to find support from other guys going through the same thing. While there was content around male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia), I found very little for men living with other types of alopecia.

Alopecia comes with its own unique challenges, and sometimes it can be hard for people who haven’t experienced it to fully understand what it’s like. That’s why I wanted to create these male-only support groups – a place where we can chat openly, ask questions, share experiences, and support one another without judgment. More than anything, I hope this becomes a genuine community where we can encourage each other, have a laugh, and remind one another that we’re not facing this journey alone.
