Alopecia UK is a member of the Association for Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and a NIHR non-commercial partner. We follow the AMRC guidelines on Expert review of funding applications. Research funding applications are reviewed by our scientific, clinical and healthcare experts on the Research Committee and experts by lived experience on the Lay Research Panel. We hold an annual Research Pots grants round for projects investigating alopecia. Our research aims and strategy focus on understanding the causes of different types of alopecias, how to manage the associated psychological distress, finding effective treatments, and ultimately cures.
