Why have you decided to shave your head to raise funds for Alopecia UK?

"I first met Anna seven years ago, at the start of secondary school and since then, she has become one of my best friends who I love dearly.

In Year 10, Anna told me she had alopecia. This was something that she had hidden for a long time. Telling me this was a massive step for her as it was something that had made her feel very low and self conscious and she had never really confided in friends before.

Over the past few years, I have seen her grow so much as a person and her bravery, courage and kindness never fails to make me proud. Seeing her go through everything with such strength; it really made me want to do something."

How are you feeling ahead of your headshave?

"Excited! I can’t wait to stand up in support of this amazing charity and all that it has done for Anna! Also a bit nervous though. As someone who doesn’t have Alopecia, I’ve never really thought about the prospect of not having hair so I’m slightly nervous as to what it’s going to be like! What if I have an odd shaped head!? But mainly, I’m feeling really positive!"

Anna, what do you think of Maisie's fundraising efforts?

"I’m so grateful that Maisie is doing this for me and fundraising for a charity that I love and that has done so much for me. I feel so lucky to have her as a friend, and I know she’s going to look great.

Maisie's headshave is taking place on Tuesday 6th March at a salon in Winchester. Celebrity hairstylist Guy Kremer is helping with the shave although Maisie is expecting friends and family will get involved too!

Thank you Maisie (and Anna!). We hope Maisie has lots of warm hats lined up......she couldn't have picked a colder spell for her headshave......brrrrrrr!
