Hi I'm Zoe,

I have had alopecia areata for about 30 years now, it is an autoimmune disease which causes hair loss. I have always managed to disguise it well up until now. Since November 2020 my hair loss has increasingly got worse spreading to other areas of my body as well. Just before Christmas, I decided to shave my head and started wearing a human hair wig which looked great. As the warmer weather approached it was starting to feel like wearing a hat and became uncomfortable wearing it every day all day so I made the tuff decision to be brave and embrace the new me.
My wonderful younger sister is going to be running the the virtual London Marathon for the Alopecia UK charity in our area. I am going to join her on the last 10km (as i'm not as fit as her) to help raise awareness and money to support Alopecia UK.

Alopecia UK is a small charity working to improve the lives of those affected by alopecia. The charity has aims around Support, Awareness and Research.

Alopecia UK relies on the support of fundraisers and donors to continue the valuable work it does. Thank you for supporting me with my fundraising efforts. I really appreciate your support and so does Alopecia UK! Zoe Ells
