Prior to that, she was an Advertising Sales Manager at Rhinegold Publishing, a leading UK performing arts publisher. Ruth specialises in marketing, communications, income generation, partnerships and events management. She has previously volunteered at Shakespeare's Globe, and she was a Trustee of Autoimmune Alopecia Research UK (AAR-UK) before their merger with Alopecia UK.

"I developed alopecia areata at age 18, having just left school. Losing my hair was traumatic, and it took me almost ten years to open up and speak publicly about it. Now that I have gained in confidence and an increased understanding of the condition, I am passionate about helping others to do the same. Alopecia UK provides an excellent peer support network for people with alopecia, as well as raising awareness of the condition and working with researchers to hopefully find treatments or a cure. I am delighted to help them to achieve these aims in order to improve the lives of those living with the condition across the UK."
