Researchers at the Centre for Appearance Research at the University of the West of England previously conducted research into appearance altering conditions (or ‘visible difference’) and romantic relationships, which you can hear about here.

The issue of telling a new partner about one’s visible difference arose in that study and so the researchers are now interested in speaking to people about their positive and less positive experiences of informing another person of their visible difference. This might be relevant to people whose visible difference is not always obvious to others (for example because of the location on the body, clothing, make up, or a hairpiece) and may have involved telling a new romantic partner, a friend, a colleague, or someone else.

If you have an experience to share and would be willing to speak to the researchers, you can find more details and/or indicate that you are interested in the work here.
