Institution: Centre for Appearance Research, University of the West of England

Location: Online

Closing date: September 2020

The Centre for Appearance Research is looking for parents and carers of children and young people (ages 0-18) with alopecia to take part in an online survey about their parenting and caring experiences. This survey is part of a wider PhD project focused on developing future support for parents and families.

This study will explore the experiences of parents and carers of children and young people with a condition or injury that affects their appearance and results in what is sometimes called a visible difference. Living with an appearance affecting condition/injury can present challenges for the child or young person and can also impact other members of the family, including parents and carers.

By sharing your experiences, you will be contributing to the knowledge and understanding of the experiences of parents and carers of children with an appearance affecting condition or injury. Using the data from this research, we plan to further develop support for parents and families.
