Institution: University of South Wales

Location: Online questionnaire and Skype interview

Closing Date: 22nd June 2020

Phaedra Longhurst, a postgraduate psychology student at the University of South Wales, is recruiting people affected by all types of alopecia for her study, which aims to explore patients’ experiences and their understanding of body image dissatisfaction in association with a dermatological condition, such as hair loss.

This will enable researchers to expand their understanding of the physical and psychological impact of having a skin or hair condition with the hope of improving both patients’ experiences and well-being.

Participants will be asked to answer a short online questionnaire, then undertake an interview, either by skype or telephone. The interview should take approximately 1 hour.

Phaedra is looking for participants:

  • Aged 18 and over
  • Diagnosed with a skin or hair condition by a GP or dermatologist
  • Experienced symptoms for a minimum of 12 months
  • Have body image concerns associated with their condition
