Children & Young People

Teens with alopecia and their families can join us for an afternoon of Kayaking at Debdale Outdoor Centre.

This event is suitable for teens aged 13 - 17

Meet-up Details 

Whether you are a beginner or looking to improve your skills, our team of qualified instructors will help you enjoy and master kayaking.  Attendees will be split into two groups where they will learn the skills of kayaking, have fun and make new friends . Teens can wear loose-fitting clothing or whatever they feel comfortable in. Kayaks and life jackets will be provided. Parents will be free to spectate. 


Getting There

Parking - There is a free car park at the front of the Debdale Outdoor Centre.

Public Transport - The closest bus stop is Clumber Road which is a 4 minute' walk away. The closest train station is Reddish North 17 minute' walk away. 


Booking Details

This is a FREE ticketed event, so please register your attendance using the ticket information below. Those not registered ahead of the event will not be able to attend as we must submit numbers ahead of the event.

Registration for this event will close on Monday 1st of July at 9.00 am. 

If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know so that we can plan for the correct number of attendees.


    Terms and Conditions

      • All tickets must include at least one teen with alopecia and at least one parent /guardian.
      • Parents/ guardians are required to supervise their children at all times.
      • Teens must be accompanied by someone aged 18 or over.
      • We may capture some photos at this event, as part of your booking you will be asked for your consent. Please read our photo policy regarding how we will use the photos here. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact [email protected]

      Who will be there from Alopecia UK?

      Alopecia UK's activity leader for this event is Claire (pictured to the right)

      Hi, I'm Claire and I'm looking forward to meeting you all. I have a 5-year-old daughter, Talia, who lost all her hair a couple of years ago.

      We love being part of the Alopecia UK community and have really enjoyed the meet-ups over the border in Yorkshire. We live in South Manchester and enjoy lots of things but mostly being active and outside. By day I work in research management at the University of Bradford and outside of this I enjoy volunteering for Alopecia UK and supporting my local running club. Mostly though I love my mum duties.
