News & Events News Staffordshire University: The Perceptions of Body Image in Women Experiencing Alopecia Jessica Sample, a psychology student at Staffordshire University, is currently recruiting female participants to take part in a study investigating the experiences of women who have alopecia areata, totalis or universalis. The aim of the study is to gain an understanding of women’s perceptions of their body image. This will help them to understand if there are any common patterns or contrasts surrounding women with alopecia's perceptions of their own body image. This could improve understanding of how alopecia really affects women so healthcare professionals can begin to come up with ways to help. Participating in the study will involve completing a consent form followed by an online survey. The process should take between 20-30 minutes. If you are female, over the age of 18, have alopecia areata, totalis or universalis and would like to take part in this study, please complete the online study here. This project forms a part of her degree studies and has been approved by the University Ethics committee. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Sample or her supervisor Sarah Gillborn.
