Jessie Inspired to 'Get Involved' by Friend Matilda In April, Jessie Green, age seven, cut off ten inches of her hair, to raise awareness of alopecia and how it affects people because her friend Matilda Miller, age six, has alopecia. Jessie used the opportunity to raise both funds and awareness for Alopecia UK, whilst donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust - meaning two charities were able to benefit. She said: “I wanted to give my hair to so that children like Matilda can have hair. I also wanted others to understand about alopecia and help to raise awareness. My hair is now much shorter but it will grow back". Matilda, who came along to Alopecia UK's Alton Towers event in April, said: "I felt excited and nervous that Jessie was cutting her hair. It's great that Jessie has supported Alopecia UK. I had a wonderful time at Alton Towers meeting others just like me. The best bit was going on the big pirate ship!" Jessie's mum, Kelly, added: "Jessie is amazing, she always puts others first and is so loving and caring, I am very proud of her". The team at Alopecia UK is proud of both Jessie and Matilda and so pleased to confirm that Jessie raised £252.50 with her sponsored hair cut. Well done! The Little Princess Trust is a charity that provides wigs to children affected by medical hair loss, including cancer and alopecia. The charity will provide one human hair wig to young people under the age of 24.
