We are proud to be awarded Bronze at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards for our short documentary film, 'Shedding', in the Health / Medical category. The film was produced by DRPG

Since 1957, New York Festivals has dedicated itself to creating a brand that stands for creativity and prestige. The TV & Film Awards honours content in all lengths and forms and celebrates the exceptional and innovative programs being created on all continents. The Grand Jury members include over 200 directors, producers, journalists, writers, actors, creative directors, art directors, filmmakers, composers and programming executives who are award-winners themselves.

To help expand our reach and generate more public awareness around alopecia areata, DRPG produced a documentary film, working with us to focus on the personal stories of three people living with alopecia. The film was intended to be informative and inspiring, whilst giving an honest approach to the condition rather than overly-sentimental.

Dominic Allen, Director and Scriptwriter at DRPG, commented: “It was really rewarding to work on a project that had both personal significance and made a genuinely positive impact for Alopecia UK and those affected by the condition. The fact that it’s now been recognised for an international award is testament to those who contributed to the film-making process, but especially to the inspiring people who took part in the film. It takes pride of place as the latest addition to DRPG’s roster of award-winning work.”.

Amy Johnson, Alopecia UK's Communications and Fundraising Manager, added: "We've been delighted at the positive reaction to 'Shedding' from the alopecia community and wider general public too. For the film to receive the additional recognition of a Bronze award at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards is icing on the cake and bears testament to the power of the individual stories shared by Angie, Naomi and Tom."
