'Tis the season to be jolly and also the time of year to show your love for your favourite small charity! We've compiled a list of 12 ways you can support Alopecia UK this festive period!

1. Set up a monthly donation to Alopecia UK! Small charities really benefit from regular donations from supporters. We're lucky to have a small number of people who contribute to Alopecia UK on a monthly basis but we'd love to welcome a few more into our regular donor club!

2. Host a Christmas cake sale or coffee morning. Friends and family tend to feel charitable during 'the most wonderful time of the year!' Invite some friends or neighbours round, mull some wine, open a box of mince pies and pop a donation box on the table! You might be surprised how much you can raise for Alopecia UK at this time of year with a simple get-together!

3. Raise awareness of our GP module! Let your GP surgery (or other GP surgeries in your local area) know about our 'Alopecia e-Learning Module', launched earlier this year in partnership with RCGP. We're keen for as many GPs as possible to undertake the module, leading to better levels of care for patients with alopecia.

5. Read a story! Our children's story booklets are perfect stocking fillers for little ones. Our 'First Day' story booklets are designed for children with alopecia, whilst our 'My Mum' story booklet is aimed at children who have a mum who has alopecia. Available from our online shop (link above!)

6. Ride a rollercoaster! Buy your tickets to join Alopecia UK's 6th annual trip to Alton Towers. It's a fantastic day of support, awareness and fun! The event takes place on Saturday 13th April 2019 and children with alopecia go free! Tickets to join our Alton Towers trip would also make a great Christmas present!

7. Text a donation! Did you know in March 2019, Justgiving will be closing its TextGiving service? It's a shame to see a simple way to donate leave us but if you want to send a donation by text this Christmas time, you can!

Text ALOP18 £10 to 70070 to donate £10 to Alopecia UK and make a difference today (of you can change the £10 to an amount of your choosing!) JustTextGiving by Vodafone.

8. Wear a charity wristband. A simple and affordable way to show your support and raise awareness. Our charity wristbands would also make fab Christmas stocking/cracker fillers!

9. Plan a fundraising event for 2019. Very simply speaking, Alopecia UK couldn't continue the work it does without the amazing people who fundraise for the charity on an annual basis. There are so many wonderful ways that people do their bit for Alopecia UK; sponsored runs, walks, cycles, headshaves, haircuts, cake sales, fun days, pub quizzes, sky dives... The list is only limited by your imagination! But if you're struggling for ideas, we've pulled together a 'Fundraising A-Z' to help inspire!

10. Run, run, run! We have five charity running places available in the 2019 Great North Run (Sunday 8th September, Newcastle Upon Tyne) and a further five in the 2019 Great South Run (Sunday 20th October, Portsmouth). If you would like to take one of our charity places, please email [email protected] to find out more.

11. Money CAN buy you happiness! Just £2.49 can buy you a whole Bag of Happiness! A cute little gift to give to someone you care about (perhaps tie to a Christmas present for a bit of extra magic!). All proceeds help to support Alopecia UK.
