Jen Chambers is leaving us after 10 years. We thought it would be lovely to provide the opportunity for people to show their thanks and appreciation for all of Jen’s hard work over the past decade. We know that Jen would love to see any donations, big or small, as every penny counts, (especially so if they come with some nice messages and memories!).  Being a monthly donor herself since 2007, Jen is a big advocate of the alopecia community chipping in to help the charity in a long-term sustainable way.  So if any of you would like to set up a monthly donation, we know she would absolutely love that! (as would we!)

From Jen:

“Ten years.  Wow.

To all of you that I have connected with, in whatever way that might have been over the last ten years, THANK YOU!  It has been a blast and I have so many great memories.  I really hope that any of the work I’ve been involved with in my time at Alopecia UK has somehow had a positive effect on you. One thing I think we all really need is more smiles and happiness in the world.  I know that alopecia can take some of that away.  But it can come back!  And that is what Alopecia UK is all about.  I hope through the flash mobs, the Big Weekend conferences, the Big Weekend socials, the Big Weekend awareness activities (walks, Granada Studios, canoeing on Loch Lomond!), the kids support groups, the adult support groups, the Alton Towers events, etc (the list goes on!) - I hope that they helped some of you in some kind of positive way.  It has all certainly helped me.  Thank you so much for being a part of it.

I have met so many fabulous people affected by alopecia, from all walks of life. It is testament to the alopecia community's enthusiasm for fundraising and donations that has helped Alopecia UK move from being a 'teeny' charity to a 'small' one. A small charity that has always worked hard for its community and always will. A charity that despite its small size still achieves some incredible things, probably even more incredible if you consider the size of its team and modest annual income compared to many other charitable organisations.

I love an inspirational quote and have had a few in my time at Alopecia UK.  In terms of monthly donations, one quote that always stuck out for me was ‘Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much’.  My monthly donation alone can do a tiny bit.  But hundreds or thousands of us giving a monthly donation each month, well that really creates the impetus for change doesn’t it?  What would Alopecia UK, and its work around Support, Awareness and Research, be able to achieve if that happened?!”
