I've been cutting my hair down in degrees and preparing myself for total baldness. Today i went grade zero and even got the razor out but it still looks like I have patchy 5 O'clock shadow. How do you get it completely smooth?

Do you use a brand new razor? Shaving cream?

It’s a big decision to shave your head but you feel great when it’s done!!!!!

I must admit that when I did mine it was the most amazingly liberating experience. I just felt so much better having done it.

As for shaving, a wet shave is by far the best shave you can have. I’m AU now so I don’t need to shave any more but when I was AA and had to shave I used a Gillette Fusion razor, the basic one not the powered one. It is a three blade razor and gets really close so it’s brilliant.

It’s not just the razor it’s also your technique for shaving that counts. The best thing to do is before you shave, apply a hot towel to your head to prepare your head for shaving, and then apply a good shaving gel and rub it in really well to make your head ready for the shave. It really makes a difference and you get a much better shave.

As for cuts etc, when I first started I did nick myself a few time but practice makes perfect and after a while I could shave and my head would feel great without any soreness or cuts.

Give it a try!!!!!!!

Onwards and upwards.

Shaving my head was liberating!!!!!!!!

I did try it with hot towels, and a razor dipped frequently in hot water, shaving gel, the works. I was dead proud that I didn't cut myself.

But my head still doesn't look skin colour all over. It looks dark and patchy where I still have hair under the surface, even though its shaved as close as it is humanly possible to go.

Its a pity, I was working my way up to going without a head scarf but it just doesn't look good.
